10.19.26 Staff Blog
It’s a brand new week! As you know, we are seeing an uptick in illness at school. Thank you for ensuring students are washing hands and that you are using your air purifier as we move into this cooler season. If you have not done so already, please take a look at the conference schedule for the week of November 2-November 6.

CONFERENCE MATERIALS-LEARNING PLANS: ACTION
HICAP- NEWLY ELIGIBLE STUDENTS and LEARNING PLANS FOR CONFERENCE WEEK
HiCap determinations have been completed for students in Gr. 1–8 who participated in the Fall 2026 New Student Testing session. You can now access the 2026 fall student eligible roster, along with all 2026–27 Highly Capable (HiCap) school rosters, on the HiCap Staff Portal. (Only EL, EIN, HT, KEL, PW, and SY have newly identified students.)
Next Steps:
Families will be notified of results via ParentSquare this Friday afternoon (Oct 9).
Per the new WACs, families no longer have to provide consent for services, but may opt out of services for the year.
HiCap school rosters will be updated to reflect new eligible students.
PEP - Some new first-grade students have qualified for PEP, but will not be joining the math pullout group. These students will need differentiated enrichment across subject areas but did not demonstrate a need for additional services in math at this time.
If a student is designated PEP (+ math pullout), they will be pulled out once per week with the math enrichment group.
New students joining math pullout groups will begin the week of October 12, 2026.
Student Learning Plans/Conference Week
Learning Plans for Grades 1-5 are now ready and can be found in your school folder HERE.
In the Learning Plans folders, there are:
Math Learning Plans for each eligible student, prefilled with student information and with goals and services checked for math enrichment pull-out. Teachers can add additional information to the math sections if they wish.
Blank ELA Learning Plans for each eligible student, Grades 2-5, to be completed by teachers and families in conferences. These forms, when completed, show the classroom differentiation that is serving these students as well as their goals.
There are also blank saved templates in case we missed a student who was recently identified. Student Rosters can be found on the HiCap Staff Portal
Learning Plans should be shared and goals collaboratively completed with the family during conference week. Make a copy for the student’s cum file in the office.

EVAL SUPPORT:HELPFUL
eVAL 3.0 is a new platform with updated functionality. We recognize that the interface is new and it may take some time to become fluent in the new structure.
Drew Dillhunt will be joining Ann Hayes-Bell and Paul Witzel during their Tech Office Hours on Tuesday and Thursday for the next two weeks (10/13, 10/15, 10/20, 10/22) to provide direct support to any staff that has questions about the system.
No scheduling necessary - just jump in and ask your questions!
As a reminder, Digital Learning Team’s Zoom office hours are 7:00-9:00am
ELECTION GUIDANCE: HELPFUL
As we enter this election season, please take some time to review the election guidelines found in our employee handbook. These points are intended to provide guidance and ensure that you have structure during these (sometimes) challenging conversations. Please talk with me if you have questions after reviewing these guidelines.

On the north side of NE 200th Street between 25th Avenue NE and the existing sidewalk at Cascade K-8 School
