STAFFING UPDATE: HELPFUL

A big thanks to Kim Nottingham and Cassidy Levinson for conducting interviews for our open Paraprofessional position next Wednesday after schooll.  Please wish us good luck in this interview process.  We have many wonderful candidates, so we are looking forward welcoming a strong staff member to the team.

EVACUATION DRILL: ACTION

Before Thursday 9/21:

  • Read the "Fire or Fire Alarm Procedure" from the classroom Emergency Flip Chart and review your classroom Evacuation Route.

  • Practice lining up in alphabetical order in your assigned area. (K-5: playground blacktop by rain garden gate & 6-8 blacktop by 4 square area. The HEE will be using the covered area for drills.)

  • Review & Practice drill procedures with your class (walk, level 0, line up in ABC order).

  • Talk with your buddy teacher, and let them know if you are going to be absent or make any special arrangements that might be necessary for a sub.

  • Provide Micaela with names of students who may be triggered by a drill so that we can make arrangements for them, if necessary.

On Drill Day:

  • Listen for the fire alarm to go off (around 2:10 p.m.)

  • Bring your emergency backpack & binder.

  • Walk students to your assigned location.

  • Take attendance - copies of your attendance rosters are found in your binder and linked here.

  • During the drill, an adult will come collect your attendance sheet for Amber/Jennifer.

Things to remember:

  • If your class is with a Specialist (i.e., Art, Band, Library) - Please grab your backpack and binder and go to your safe spot on the playground.  Specialist teachers will bring your class to you.

  • The most time consuming piece of the drill is the attendance piece.

Amber/Jennifer must check your drill attendance sheet against what we have in the office.

  • Here are some tips for taking attendance quickly:

  • Teach your students to line up in alphabetical order - then they only need to know who is before and behind them in line.

  • Once students are in line, have them sit down and wait quietly.

At the end of the drill, wait to be released back into the building.

TECH TIPS:HELPFUL

Here is an archive of all tech tips provided by the district technology team.

WEBSITE CHANGEOVER:HELPFUL

As you know, our district is using a new website and platform.  As part of that change, some of our district resources that used to be accessed using a department page have been moved into Canvas Courses. I am sure we will find more of these as we use the new platform, but please know that mandated reporting forms can be accessed by enrolling in the Canvas course linked below. This course will contain many resources that used to be accessed under Student Services. CPS forms are also linked in our systems and procedures document.

Here are two shortcuts to help people find the course and self enroll:
