MID-YEAR PROGRESS REVIEW: ACTION

Mid Year Review - FOCUSED:

At our mid-year review we will:

So, what do you need to do before our mid-year?

1.  In the “Teacher Evidence Gathering” observation, add any notes you wish relating to components from domains 1 or 4 that are part of your area of focus. Please note these are notes that will be part of the FINAL evaluation, so it is fine if you have not added all the components yet. This is a good reminder to complete this step before our final conference.

2.  Reflect on your student growth goals and progress with students and come prepared to discuss your reflections.

3. Sign up for a date and time that works for you to have a 15 minute mid-year conference.

Mid Year Review - COMPREHENSIVE:

At our mid-year review we will:

  • Touch base regarding student growth goals (no need for any final data, just a conversation about learning - ours and our students’)

  • Review teacher input on any components from domains 1 or 4

So, what do you need to do before our mid-year?

1.    In the “Teacher Evidence Gathering” observation, add any notes you wish relating to components from domains 1 or 4 that are part of your area of focus. Please note these are notes that will be part of the FINAL evaluation, so it is fine if you have not added all the components yet. This is a good reminder to complete this step before our final conference.  (Danielson Criterion/Domain Observable/Non-observable One Pager)

2.  Reflect on your student growth goals and progress with students and come prepared to discuss your reflections.

3. Sign up for a date and time that works for you to have a 15 minute mid-year conference.

4.  Do #s 1 and 2 above at least 24 hours before our meeting.

STAFF AUCTION ITEMS: ACTION

It is already time to start thinking about the auction!! This year, it is a “Great Gatsby” type of theme. The intent was to have a PTSA representative at our next staff meeting to discuss items that staff have auctioned in the past and ideas for new auction items.  However, we had some other agenda items that we needed to discuss on 2.2, so please take a few minutes to sign up for an item/experience that you are thinking of auctioning this year. If you sign up on this sheet, please know this is not a commitment yet.  On 3.2.23, we will have our next all staff meeting and we can clean it up at that time. PTSA mentioned “ticketed experiences''. I have no idea what that means, but please indicate if your item is “ticketed” in the notes column.  Thank you for getting the ball rolling!

CLASS ART PROJECTS FOR THE AUCTION: ACTION

Ask from Corinna:

I’m writing from both the lead liaison AND auction chair position. Our newest teachers may not know, but every year at our auction (April 15th) we live-auction classroom projects. These projects typically sell for hundreds of dollars each, so it is essential to our fundraising goals. This is separate from the teacher experiences that Bonnie has, or will, mention to you.

For each of you, I’d like to know how much time we can take from your packed classroom schedule to have a volunteer come in and lead a project (could be shorter times over multiple days), and what days and times might work for you.

Please email to  let me know: CorinnaASullivan@gmail.com

We would like to have these complete by April 1st, so we have two months to find a space.

Please let me know so that I can get volunteers in your classes, and thanks in advance for your time.

WEEK OF KINDNESS: ACTION

EVENTS, CELEBRATIONS, AND HOLIDAYS:

Families may want to be involved in the planning for special events and celebrations at school. In keeping with our mission and vision, we want to include everyone in all of our school activities we plan so that all children and families can participate without conflicting with their families’ values or beliefs. We refrain from any kind of religious observation, such as prayer, songs, posters or symbols and instead focus on shared experiences that include everyone. Although we listen and learn from children and families as they share stories about their family religious and cultural celebrations, we do not observe or highlight any specific commercialized or religious holiday as a focus of our daily curriculum, including birthday celebrations.

Here are some of the ways we celebrate together:

  • Program - Wide Events There will be program wide events regularly over the year. Examples include the Back to School Potluck, Family Dance Party, S.T.E.A.M events!

  • PTSA planned Events - PTSA events  are planned and scheduled outside the school day. They are optional and may include a wide variety of celebrations. The Cascade K-8 Community has celebration and community at the heart of the school, and this shines through in our PTSA events.

During the 3rd week in February, CK-8 will be celebrating a Kindness week with activities and fun for students and staff that inspire celebrations of kindness in our community.  Here are the details!

S.E.E.D SOCIAL JUSTICE CONFERENCE FOR SECONDARY STUDENTS:ACTION

The Shoreline Social Justice Conference for students returns in person this year. The conference will be held on March 7 from 9:30 - 2:00. More information will be provided soon, but I printed this flier and placed copies near the mailboxes in the staff work room.
