9.9.22 CK-8 Staff Update

Thank you for being superheroes to our students.  The number of times I heard students talking about their learning during lunch time and as I moved through classrooms was truly inspiring. I am so grateful to be a part of this amazing team, and I hope you get some well deserved down time over the weekend. Thank you a million times over for a wonderful start to the school year.

C CK-8 SYSTEMS/STAFF HANDBOOK DOCUMENT (DRAFT): HELPFUL

This document is in progress, and will be updated as we all learn/refresh our memories on the systems and structures in place at CK-8.  If you see an area that could use an addition,  or if something is not correct, please send the link or correction to rebbecah.emanuel@ssd412.org

SAFE SCHOOLS: ACTION

The mandatory annual SafeSchools training sessions for the 22-23 School Year are active and ready!

The completion deadline is November 30, 2022.

You may log-in here to get started.  You can also find this link on the Human Resources-Links page of the District website.

Please log-in using your firstname.lastname (Ex: mary.smith), as it appears on Employee Access.

Let Marie McCluskey know if you have questions.

EVALUATION: HELPFUL

The first deadline for certificated staff on either focused or comprehensive is coming up on September 30th.  By that time, all classroom teachers will need to have completed a self-assessment.  On Wednesday (9/21) during early release time, we will have time to complete that step.  I wanted you to know in advance so you will have time to get back into eVal, update your password if needed, and (if you are on a focused cycle) begin thinking about your area of focus.  Please note that you are all set to comprehensive at this time.  That is because the software requires this to be the cycle until you have completed your self-assessment.

ASSEMBLY TUESDAY MORNING (9/13): HELPFUL

Our Welcome Back P.A.C.K Assembly will be on Tuesday morning (9/13).  Dismissal will start with our 8th grade students at 9:30,  and we will dismiss by grade from oldest to youngest. As promised, the students have provided an agenda (and some planning notes) for you to review with your students on Monday.  In addition, here is a seating chart for the assembly.  As mentioned, please plan on dismissing by cluster groups.

PURCHASING REMINDER: HELPFUL

A friendly reminder to make sure that you have purchased goods (for which you are seeking reimbursement) delivered to the school address.  Goods shipped to your home will not be eligible for reimbursement, so this is an important reminder.

HIGH IMPACT INCLUSION DOLLARS: ACTION

At this morning’s staff meeting, we began discussing the use of high impact inclusion dollars.  As we discussed, here is a copy of the form that I will submit to the district for approval once our vote has been taken.  Once you have had time to consider the form, please take some time to complete this voting form.  You will notice there is a space for notes in case your idea was not discussed in our meeting this morning, or is not listed on the voting form. If further discussion is needed, we will re-visit on 9/15 during the staff meeting.

STAFF SURVEY- WEDNESDAY PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: ACTION

Please take a moment to add your thoughts and input into our professional learning during principal time on early release days using this survey.  This morning, we discussed making time for community building, looking at our core values and goals, developing our teams based on those goals, and finding ways to co-create with our community based on those core values and goals. Please share your ideas for additional topics you would like to explore or even lead!  I know the experts are in the room, and I look forward to learning alongside and from you.

SIGN UP TO ATTEND A COMMUNITY MEETING: ACTION

I learned more about the community meeting time slots for staff at the last PTSA meeting. I have created a calendar for you to sign up for a slot if you would like to do so. Please use this link to sign up for a 30 minute time slot at a community meeting. In summary, the dates are:

  • 9.22.22

  • 10.20.22

  • 11.17.22

  • 1.19.23

  • 2.16.23

  • 3.16.23

  • 4.20.23

  • 5.18.23

In addition to signing up for a time if you would like to do so, I will share some of the thinking around the purpose of these presentations and get your thoughts regarding the purpose at our next staff meeting. Amber will be with us at our next staff meeting to give us some information on purchasing items and experiences for your class, so I think this will tie in well to our time with Amber. Thank you for your patience with me as I gain a better understanding of this part of our work together.
